Home Widgets managing director Sid Entrepreneur said small businesses need “assistance and advice”, but they find it hard to afford "the cost of consultants”.
“Small businesses have been hit by higher taxes and charges by both the state and federal governments which will drain $2 million away from this region in the current financial year,” he said.
"The region’s economy relies heavily on the success of small family businesses, but the governments are not giving us enough advisory support to help people who are low in the skills needed to prepare business plans and marketing strategies.”
“These small business people also need information on export and finance as well as having easier access to government.”
